Payments

What payment methods does Cache support in Ethiopia?

Cache supports Telebirr for digital payments, plus cash, credit, and charge-to-room. All methods can be enabled or disabled from your Admin dashboard under Settings. Charge-to-room is available on the Hotel plan. Guests pay directly in their browser — no app download required.

How does Cache integrate with Telebirr for hotel and restaurant payments?

Cache integrates with Telebirr for both mobile and web payment flows. During setup, you add your Telebirr merchant credentials in the Admin dashboard under Settings → Payments. Cache handles payment initiation and callback confirmation automatically. Guests pay without leaving the ordering flow.

Does Cache hold my money before it reaches me?

No. Telebirr payments settle directly to your own merchant account using your own credentials. Cache initiates the payment and records the confirmation against the order, but never holds, pools, or routes your funds. Your payout timing is set by Telebirr, not by Cache.

Can guests pay by cash or have charges added to their room?

Yes. Staff confirm cash and credit payments in the same checkout that issues the fiscal receipt, so nothing is recorded outside the system. On the Hotel plan, room service and paid guest services can be charged to the room and settled together on one itemised folio at checkout.

Pricing & Plans

How much does Cache cost?

Cache uses usage-based pricing tied to what you actually process. Café: ETB 0 base + ETB 5 per completed order, capped at ETB 300/month. Restaurant: ETB 250 base + ETB 4 per completed order, capped at ETB 1,200/month (or ETB 10,000/year billed annually). Hotel: a flat monthly rate from ETB 1,500, negotiated by property size, with a 50% discount on each additional property. Every plan starts with a free Activation Trial — no charge until your venue completes its first 10 guest orders, capped at 60 days. See the Pricing page for the full breakdown.

Is there a free plan? What are its limits?

The Café plan has no monthly base fee — you only pay ETB 5 per completed order, capped at ETB 300/month, so it can never cost more than that. It includes a digital QR menu, guest reviews, digital tipping, and automatic tax-compliant receipts. To unlock the Kitchen Display System, advanced analytics, or multi-venue support, upgrade to Restaurant or Hotel.

Is there a setup fee or onboarding cost?

No. Cache has no setup fees, no onboarding charges, and no hidden costs. You pay only your usage-based or subscription fee. Onboarding assistance is included on all plans at no extra charge. If you need in-person training for a large property, contact our team.

Does Cache offer annual billing?

Yes, for Restaurant and Hotel plans. Restaurant annual billing is ETB 10,000/year — saving ETB 2,000 versus 12 months at the monthly cap. Hotel annual billing is 10× your monthly rate (2 months free). Annual pricing is available on the subscription page after signup. All prices are in Ethiopian Birr (ETB).

Getting Started

How fast can we go live with Cache?

Most independent restaurants and cafés go live the same day they sign up. Hotels typically take one to three days. Cache's AI-assisted Excel menu import means you can upload your existing menu and have it live in minutes. QR codes are generated automatically and ready to print immediately.

What does setup involve? Do we need technical expertise?

No technical expertise is required. After signing up, you import or build your menu, configure your payment methods, and print your QR codes. The entire process is guided in the Admin dashboard. Our onboarding team provides email and phone support during setup.

Does Cache support the Amharic language?

Yes. Cache supports both Amharic and English across the admin interface and the guest-facing ordering experience. Staff can use either language. Menu item names, descriptions, and categories can be entered in Amharic. The guest QR ordering page adapts to the language preference of the venue.

Operations

Can Cache handle room service and table orders at the same time?

Yes. Cache handles room service, table ordering, and counter ordering simultaneously. Each room, table, and counter has its own QR code. Orders route to the appropriate kitchen station or display. You can run a restaurant and a room service operation from a single Cache dashboard.

What is the Kitchen Display System (KDS) and how does it work?

The Kitchen Display System replaces paper tickets. Orders appear on a screen in the kitchen the moment they are placed. Kitchen staff tap to accept, update status to "ready," and Cache notifies the waiter. You get real-time visibility into queue depth and average prep times. KDS is included in the Restaurant and Hotel plans.

Does Cache work with our Property Management System (PMS)?

Cache is built to work alongside the PMS systems hotels already use for charge-to-room, folio posting, and guest name validation. During onboarding, our team reviews your specific setup and configures charge-to-room to fit your existing front-desk workflow. Contact our team with your PMS details before signing up so we can confirm the best approach for your property.

Can I manage multiple venues from one account?

Yes. Restaurant and Hotel plans include multi-venue support at no extra cost. You can manage unlimited locations — separate menus, staff, analytics — from a single admin login. Each venue has independent settings and its own QR codes.

Tax & Compliance

Does Cache issue tax-compliant receipts automatically?

Yes. Cache is rolling out automatic, government-verifiable digital tax receipts on every checkout — table checks, quick sales, and hotel invoices — across all plans at no extra cost. Each receipt is digitally signed and reported as part of Ethiopia's e-invoicing framework. If your internet connection drops, the receipt queues and syncs automatically once you're back online, so nothing is lost.

Is e-invoicing mandatory, and when do I need to comply?

Under Ethiopia's Electronic Invoicing System Administration Directive No. 1142/2026 (Ministry of Revenues), use of a compliant electronic sales register system is mandatory for taxpayers required to maintain books of accounts, with rollout phased on a schedule set by the Ministry. Cache is built to help your venue stay ahead of that timeline — automatic tax-compliant receipts are already included on every plan, so there's nothing extra to set up. Talk to our team if you want specifics for your business type and size.

Trial & Cancellation

What happens after the Activation Trial ends?

Once your venue completes its first 10 guest orders (or after a maximum of 60 days), you choose a plan and your subscription begins at your plan's rate. You will be notified before any charge. If you decide Cache is not right for you, you can cancel before choosing a plan and you will not be billed.

Can I cancel my Cache subscription at any time?

Yes. You can cancel at any time from the Admin dashboard under Settings → Billing. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. There are no cancellation fees or penalties. Your data remains accessible until the end of the paid period.
